After
the brainstorming session I went through yesterday, I was no more confused as
to what I should blog about..
The whole group was on
fire when the argument was about being ethical and honest and perfect...
If your answer is yes,
I would be amazed. While some simply accepted to being unethical/immoral at
times, some said they are absolutely ethical, saying ethics are subjective..really??
Is it ?? I don’t know!
Are you so sure of
having acted in the most principled manner one can think of? Has your life
really been the purest? Are you free of all the vices? Have you never lied to
your family? never tried and escape a situation?
Are you really that
perfect? Do you feel there is nothing to improve in you? Are you the best son/
daughter? the best of friend? Have you never met someone who was a little more
generous, a little more compassionate, a little more sensitive a little more
human?
For all I know, I can
speak only for myself. And I would happily agree to being ‘perfectly
imperfect’!!
It reminds me of an
incident-
I once wanted to go
out with my family for 2 days. Someone told me to tell my boss I was not well
and couldn’t come. I asked my boss whether I could get a 2 day leave since my
family is going out and expects me to be along. He immediately said a NO and I
immediately learnt a lesson. My colleagues and many others did that and I never
judged them regarding this but I didn't want to lie for no reason. But guess
what? I recently went out with my family on a trip of 4 days telling my boss I
was ill.
Now, do you think I
did the wrong thing? I don’t know..atleast I don’t think so..Was giving your
intern a 2-day leave during off season so difficult when you still have a team of
4-5 people to work for you? I don't know why my boss denied since he is a reasonable man, but I definitely had decided what to do when I wanted a leave.
My friend had once
argued that she will never resort to unfair unethical unacceptable behaviour
ever in her life. It ranges from never ever copying in any test to cheating on
your spouse. Today I see her lying to her parents and going out with her
boyfriend whereas I still wouldn’t mind peeping into my friend's paper or
showing him mine but I do leave home telling my mom whom I am really with. Am I
wrong or Is she wrong?
My answer is no one is
wrong. Wrong is when you judge, when you label people as good or bad, ethical
or unethical, perfect or imperfect..
Mother Teresa once
said
“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.
A beautiful thought and an even more beautiful way of expression. I believe the only thing you need to learn about blogging is giving your examples via your friends. Like you said about the leave, you could have easily escaped the terror of your boss finding it (via this blog) by saying one of your friends did it. I may not be correct to do so, but as the blog rightly says, one cannot judge :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd i like the example where your friend would not copy but lie to her parents about going out, and yet believe that she is doing nothing un-ethical. Could relate to it.
